I know there was going to be 2 versions of this DVD coming out but I got this anyway because I’m such a LOTR dork. I couldn’t wait til November not seeing this again. Besides, there is going to different extras on the special edition, plus there is 30 minutes added back into the film! Man I can’t wait. I’ve probably watched everything I could on this disc which I never do. I might check out the deleted scenes of a DVD and maybe a featurette. I looked at all the lordoftherings.net featurettes, that was cool to see but left you craving for more detail. The Enya video was cool to see. She can’t lip sync that good but she has a beautiful voice though. One of the best things to watch on here though was the 10 minute Behind The Scenes preview of The Two Towers. Got to see Andy Serkis as Gollum a lil’ bit, some the making of Helms Deep, lots of great stuff you couldn’t see in any of the trailers. There’s also previews of the LOTR video game which was great to see and I can’t wait to get that, and a preview of the Special Extended Cut Version of Fellowship. As for the movie itself, the transfer is great. Picture is clear as rain, the sound quality is top notched. If you bought this version of the movie and want the Special Extended Version as well, you can get 5 to 10 dollar rebate off whatever set you want to get, the 4 disc version or the 5 disc gift set. If you don’t want to get the other version of the DVD, this is still good for the regular DVD buyer.
