Another great DVD that recently came out. M. Night’s movies are either hit or miss with a lot of people, but I really dig his work in the movies that he has put out. I think Signs is almost his best work to date. Sixth Sense was great the first time seeing it, but after that, it gets slow and the suspense is done because you know what’s going to happen. Unbreakable was a good modern day comic book movie, but again it was slow and dark. This movie adds humor, more interesting plot and some really suspenseful scenes. I like how M Night is doing his films the old way, and yes, He’s like Hitchcock reincarnated. Once you see the extras about this movie you will appreciate his filmmaking and how he does things.

The extras on the DVD were pretty good. The deleted scenes were okay, one scene that involved an alien in the attic was intense, though it didn’t have music to scare us more, but if it was in the film, it would have been creepy. Other deleted scenes were about Graham and Merril’s relationship as brothers, and some brief shots of Graham and his wife. The making of Signs featurettes were great. It’s divided into 6 parts and I liked the music score one the best. James Newton Howard’s score to this film is perfect M Night wasn’t even going to put a score in the film!! Can you believe that! Besides the score, they talk about how they started filming right after 9/11 and emotions you saw in the film, were pretty real. Besides that tragic event happening, M Night’s grandfather passed away when he was doing his scene so that must have been emotionally as well. There’s other things on here as well but not that much, and I didn’t look at them but overall, this DVD is a must get if you liked the film.
