I wouldn’t say this is the best season of South Park, but they have a ton of classic episodes in this one. Plus it has one of the oddest episodes about a pot smoking, talking Towel named Towelie! “?”

If you’ve been living in a bomb shelter for the past 8 or 9 years, South Park takes place in the the town of the same name. The series follows around 4 elementary school kids named Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny. The animation style is cut and paste and it fits with the cartoon’s humor. Even though it’s gotten more advance throughout the years with computers, the animation style is still shitty looking. But that’s why I like it! You can tell that Matt and Trey just didn’t give a flying fart when creating this. Each episode is laugh out loud funny, and at times, can be just a little out of the box if you know what I mean. You can tell that some of the episode ideas were pulled out of their asses and they just went with it. 9 out of 10 times, the ideas usually works too.

The one thing that I like with newer episodes of South Park is the political and social commentary. They seemed to do more episodes that go down that road more now and I like that a lot! Between the Daily Show and South Park, you never need to watch actually news hahaha. The Butters episode has a really funny ending that fits this type of social commentary that I like. They manage to attack Condit, the Ramseys and OJ all at the same time and it’s hilarious! I totally forgot about Sen. Condit’s scandal thing until I watched this episode. I think after 9/11 happened, that whole thing just went away. Matt and Trey took it upon themselves to let people know how they felt on the matter. There were many episodes like this one, but there were also some turkeys in this season as well. For one, I can’t stand Terrence and Phillip and hate episodes devoted to them. I think i’m bitter still, when Matt and Trey tricked their fans when we were supposed to find out who Eric Cartman’s father was . I don’t really like the Towelie episode as much as other people but I find myself quoting Towelie lately. I don’t know why though. I liked how South Park started to feature some other main characters and give them their own episodes like Butters and Token. You can tell that they were getting sick of killing Kenny since they killed him off for good in this season. Well, killed him off for a little awhile and let Butters be the 4th main character for a season or so.

The South Park DVDs usually don’t have a whole lot of extras on the sets and it’s a shame. But the one thing I do like is the mini-commentary tracks from the creators Matt and Trey. I normally don’t like listening to commentary over the whole movie, tv shows, etc; But their commentary is only about 3 minutes long. If they have anything worth saying from that episode, they will tell you in that little time frame. If not, they stop talking and go to the next episode. Some of the stuff they talk about though is hilarious and they say what they want. I usually listen to the tracks first and then back up the episode and watch it from the beginning.

South Park Season 5 DVD set looks great on DVD, the commentary is funny and so is the show. Many hysterical episodes, and lines to quote! Pick up this DVD if you are a fan of the show. CRIPPLE FIGHT!!!!!
