Honestly, I didn’t even know a Superman Animated Series existed. I never saw an episode until recently. I had to stay home from work because of a stomach virus so I decided to check out this DVD between throwing up…and other things. And i’m sure you wanted to know that.

This DVD is 4 episodes from Superman: the Animated Series, and it’s sort of an appetizer for the full set release in Januaury. If you don’t know a thing about Superman by now, then well, you’re a lost cause I guess. He’s the man of steel, faster than a speeding bullet, yadda yadda yadda. He’s tough, you get it. I’m not really a big superman fan like I am with other comic books and superheros. I briefly remember the Christopher Reeves movies and don’t know a whole lot about the franchise. But I liked the episodes I saw on this DVD. I’m sure Batman Animated Series helped this show get created, and I believe some of the filmmakers went on and worked on this show as well. The show is in the same vein, but not as dark. It’s still meant for teenagers and adults though. Maybe when the box set comes out, i’ll check out all the episodes.

The extras on here are kind of weak. It just seems like fluff to hold some superman fans over til the big boxset comes out. If you want to check out some cool episodes, including one with The Flash, then get this 4 episode DVD. Though I’d recommend buying the First Season set instead when it comes out on DVD.
