One of the greatest trilogies of all time finally makes it’s way onto DVD and it was worth the long wait! If you haven’t seen any of these movies by now, then that’s truly sad and you live a sheltered life! The DVDs look and sound excellent, and this is the first time I saw them in widescreen because I always had the full frame VHS versions. Picture quality looks the best in The Last Crusade, probably because it was the newest of the trilogy. A lot of people don’t like Temple of Doom but I really like it because it’s dark, and Indy is just a badass in the movie. Plus Kate Capshaw is freakin’ hot! Two of my favorite scenes of all the trilogy are in Temple of Doom. One is when Short Round and Indy are trapped in that spiked closed off room and Willie is complaining how she broke a nail. Indy just gets so pissed off at her and says “” And when she finally opens the door, he’s just sitting their with disgust. The next scene is the infamous bridge scene. At the end when he gets trapped on the bridge and cuts the thing and everyone falls off. That’s just a total bad ass move right there. I think I do that scene everything I’m on a small bridge with my friends, like a mini-golf course. “Look Safe bridge, See. AHHH!” hahaha. I’m a dumbass. I also do the Kali-ma hand thing with my little cousins to scare them. haha I’m evil. But I think Last Crusade is probably my favorite of the trilogy. I think the combination of Sean Connery, John Rhys-Davies, and Denholm Elliott chemistry with Harrison Ford is what made the movie so enjoyable to watch. Plus the story was very interesting and compelling. Whenever you involve those pricks the Nazis in anything you always get a sense of jump and want Indy to kick their asses and defeat them. The first movie is a classic and shaped the way people did action adventure movies after it. John Williams’ score helps these movies out so much, and helped make Indiana Jones that iconic movie character. Whenever you hear his music, you think of Indiana Jones. and then you immediately think of John Rhys-Davies saying “thhheee ddawwgg?!?” You were named after the daaawwwgg?”

The DVDs extras were great to watch. Each movie had it’s own hour featurette on the making of. A lot of the cast came back to talk about their experiences on the movie and to tell stories of the production and such. The featurettes had original making of footage and never before seen footage of stuff combined into an awesome making of featurette. I checked out the John Williams- The Sound of Indiana Jones featurette and that was great to watch and I think John Williams was the only one who even mentioned the 4th movie of Indiana Jones on this set. He talks about how he liked going back to scoring the seuqels because it gives him a chance to make the score better and just to play the Raiders theme again. There’s a lot of extras that I haven’t check out but I will on a nice rainy day. It would have been good to audio commentaries on each movie with Spielberg and Lucas but Spielberg is against commentaries so I don’t think we’ll be seeing any commentaries of these movies or any movies he does in the near future. But Overall, if you are a movie fan and loves these movies, I’m sure you have this already. This is not to be overlooked! GET IT NOW!
