RIP: Jeff Hanneman (Slayer)

I’m sure you’ve heard the devastating news that Jeff Hanneman of Slayer (co-founder, lead guitarist) has passed away at the age of 49. I only listened to Slayer sporadically but I definitely appreciated and respected them as a band. What stood out when I did listen was the awesome guitar playing. Jeff Hanneman’s hyper-fast guitar playing will be missed in the metal & music community!
Slayer is devastated to inform that their bandmate and brother, Jeff Hanneman, passed away at about 11AM this morning near his Southern California home. Hanneman was in an area hospital when he suffered liver failure. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his sister Kathy and his brothers Michael and Larry, and will be sorely missed.
