The Charms are on tour supporting the release of the DVD “Easy Trouble”, a film by Boston filmmaker Ben Oliver, based on their struggles and triumphs in an ever-changing climate for mid level bands.
Delusions Of Adequacy writes, “Easy Trouble documents The Charms’ successes and their hardships, their gains and their losses. It tells the story of how they began in Boston in 1999 and how far they have come since then” and “When the band plays together they radiate a positive energy that would make any crowd member excited to be a part of the show.”

Ballbusterhardmusic.com: “…directed and produced by Ben Oliver and, let me tell you, he did one hell of a job. He managed to squeeze the first three years of the band’s existence into one nice, neat, entertaining package and, to be honest with you, I’m not at all familiar with the band. This is the first time I’ve heard of them. But, this release made me a fan. Yes, it’s that good and that’s all that really needs to be said.

Campus Circle said this about the film, “The gist of the conversation is about the struggle to break the Charms on a
national basis, presented matter-of-factly, warts and all. Fans of the Charms will really enjoy this film, but it should also be mandatory viewing for bands that are just getting started.”

The Boston Globe wrote, “The illuminating documentary “Easy Trouble ” is a testament to the Charms’ indie-rock, DIY ethic. It follows the five-year-old, still-existing group through the highs of being supported by Bruce Springsteen guitarist Little Steven Van Zandt’s “Underground Garage” radio show (which named the Charms ‘ CD “Pussycat” the top disc of 2005), to the wrenching lows of intra-band squabbles that have seen many members leave. The Charms soldier on with their super-energized, garage-rock revival sound.”

In an interesting twist, the band signed with Wicked Cool, Van Zandt’s label, but left the label less than a year into the deal over a host of disputes. The future for the band is still bright. They have a new digital only release coming out on Red Car Records in the Fall and plan to release a new album in 2008 on a yet to be determined label.
