(Myspace) The surf-punk-pop band the Travoltas are calling it the quits after all these years. I’m sad by this news because they are a fun band to listen to and have created some catchy music. Good luck guys! Here’s what the band had to say on their myspace page:

After 16 years, 7 albums, numerous singles, compilations and videos, we have decided to call it a day. We feel that at this point in our lives we would like to focus on other activities, and we feel that we can’t give the band the attention and motivation it deserves any longer.

We will play our last show on November 18th at Grutta 77 in Madrid, Spain (http://www.gruta77.com/)

The 16 years of The Travoltas were quite an adventure. The tours have taken us to the outskirts of Europe, the US and Japan, leaving us with great memories of a fantastic period in our lives. We are proud of what we have achieved and grateful for what the music has brought us. We started this trip in my parents garage, squeezing out our first songs, hoping that we would make it to the stage one day.

Now we are at the end of our journey, we hope you had a good time aswell!

We’d like to thank all the people who supported us and believed in us in the good and the bad times. Without your efforts, time and energy we wouldnt have made it this far.

But most of all we would like to thank you: all the fans who came to our shows, who listened to our records, who spread the word around and who gave us the energy and appreciation. Thank you for making our dreams come true, for this you have our eternal gratitude!!

With love,

Perry, Eric, Micky, Skokie, Woody
