The new Waterboys album BOOK OF LIGHTNING is released in Europe on April 2 by W14/Universal Records. The album contains ten tracks, produced by Mike Scott and Philip Tennant, with musical contributions from Steve Wickham (fiddle), Richard Naiff (keyboards), Brady Blade (drums), Mark Smith (bass), Leo Abrahams (lead guitar), Jeremy Stacey (drums) plus long-time Waterboys alumni Roddy Lorimer (trumpet), Chris Bruce (lead guitar) and Thighpaulsandra (keyboards). BOOK OF LIGHTNING was recorded in London with the exception of one song recorded in Vancouver with members of Canadian art-pop band Great Aunt Ida, and another in Mike’s home studio.

The album features the live favourites The Crash Of Angel Wings and Everybody Takes A Tumble, plus a new recording of You In The Sky, which appeared for the first time on last year’s “Fisherman’s Blues” remaster set. Some fans will recognise Sustain and Strange Arrangement from the band’s 2004 acoustic tour. Mike has described the album as ‘a beauty’ on the band’s myspace page and we understand it has a psychedelic sleeve and the booklet features a short story. As we receive more details we’ll let you know.
