Form of Rocket plays moderately spastic post-punk with swirling guitars and shouted, almost spoken-word vocals. Most people find this type of music gravely irritating, but post-punkers dig the tension and catharsis and frontal-lobe noise attack. This review is for them.

Will Form of Rocket do it for you? Well, they’re not the most furious post-punk band out there, nor the most talented. The songs are also long at about 6 minutes, though that’s not uncommon for the genre. Lyrically, they’re both highbrow and lowbrow with a couple of failed attempts at misogyny (“You Look Cute in the Trunk of My Car,” “Dogfucker”). FoR are never incohesive and the vocals never become grating.

At best, Form of Rocket are decent for its genre. At worst, they’re run-of-the-mill. But since we’re talking about a genre that concerns itself more with clever song titles than with quality control, these guys will do just fine.

Bottom Line: Mediocre post-punk, but at least the vox aren’t jaggedly annoying.
Notable Tracks: I just like the title “Teapot Dome, Bitch”
