Christopher Nolan’s Batman Trilogy have been some of the finest filmmaking in the last 20 years. The same can be said for Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard’s score for Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. I always love hearing the compilations from London Music Works and the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.

This compilation is 15 tracks in total and they cover the 3 movies very well. When you think about it, they all blend together very nicely. Batman Begins set up the motifs, The Dark Knight took the themes and music to the next level and The Dark Knight Rises brought all the themes together into pure awesomeness! I always like the way the these type of compilations change the music slightly, and it gives it a somewhat different feel to the scores. It doesn’t feel like you’re listening to some best-of album. “Why So Serious” is a good example of that.

“A Watchful Guardian / The Dark Knight” isn’t something I remember from the original score unless it’s from an expanded edition? Or it’s just the end titles of the Dark Knight done differently. The Dark Knight Rises pieces are at the end obviously and London Music Works do a great job with them. “Mind If I Cut In” stood out on the original score and it still does now. All the action cues stand out but that one always stands out because it’s beautiful, mysterious and different.

If you’re looking for something that sums up the Batman Trilogy scores, this is a good place to start. I wish this was longer but they cover the trilogy quite well. Not a dull moment on this album.

Bottom Line: Great collection of Batman tracks all in one album!
Notable Tracks: Barbastella, Molossus, Why So Serious, Mind If I Cut In, Imagine The Fire
