When I first picked up “Babes Say the Hottest Things”, I laughed and then thought to myself that this was going to be either A) one of the best things that I have ever heard or B) a group of no talent idiots with too much time on their hands with access to Pro Tools. I put the CD in and weighed my options. After leaning heavily towards B, I finally settled on A. It was a tough decision but with a name like Mustache! and one of the greatest album covers I have ever feasted my eyes upon (it has eagles with mustaches, naked Victorian chicks, fire, mountains, lightning and drastic color overlays) I just couldn’t resist the message of rock that these boys purvey.

From the overuse of parenthesis in song titles… “I Got a (Mustache!)”, “I’m Drivin’ (This Train!)”, “You Need A (Man Like Me)…to the constant need to explain how much everyone needs a little bit of rock in their lives, this two-piece from Duluth, Minnesota delivers much like Spinal Tap did so many years ago. All that they’re missing now is a giant alien pod and a six-inch Stonehenge, but they’ll get there someday. Until then, they have mustaches…and the power of ROCK!!!

Bottom Line: Sound like Spinal Tap and Tenacious D…and Beethoven.
