Continuing in the same direction of The Promised Land and Hear In The Now Frontier, Q2K lacks the musical complexity and hardness of Operation: Mindcrime or the catchiness of Empire. Instead, it’s just dense wall-of-sound rock, almost kind of muddy. You listen to it, think yeah it’s pretty good, but then forget how the songs go 15 minutes later.

It seems that in an attempt to drop their cheesiness, Queensryche ironically also lost their coolness. You can still enjoy post-Empire Queensryche, you just can’t sing along or rock out as much. They still have an incredible live show, and that’s very recommended.
