Castle is one of my favorite dramas (dramedy?) on TV right now. Castle’s third season was just as good as the previous seasons, if not better! The TV series is one when you start watching it, you can’t just stop! My only complaint is that this wasn’t released on Blu-Ray.

Castle Season 3 starts off very interesting as Beckett and her team go to a murder scene in an apartment only to find Castle standing over a dead woman’s body with a gun. They have no choice to arrest Castle and find out where he’s been for months and prove himself to be innocent. Obviously Castle wasn’t guilty and eventually the team welcomes back Castle to the murder investigation team.

This season continues the audiences’ frustration of having to watch Castle and Beckett flirt and avoid the obvious thing, that they like each other. Just when you think they are finally going to go there, NOPE! It’s frustrating but honestly, maybe the show is better off if they never get there until the end of the series? Look at Jim and Pam on The Office, they finally are together and now they are boring. I doubt it will take that long for Beckett and Castle to get together though. Season 3 delivers like the other seasons in that it balances the drama and the humor very well. Richard Castle and Becket come close to death a few times this season (as well as Det. Esposito and Det. Ryan), and one main character sadly leaves the show as well. The seasons has a variety of episodes like a dirty bomb threat in NYC and Homeland Security takes over the investigation, a potential old serial killer who vanished 4 years ago might have returned, a future Olympic swimmer is found dead and might have been mixed up in drugs, and Beckett travels to LA with Castle to track down a killer. Then you get lighter type of episodes like a murder happens at a beauty pageant, the head writer of a Soap Opera is murdered on the set, and the actress playing Nikki Heat comes to visit and shadows Beckett. The final episode deals with the assassin that might have had something to do with Beckett’s mother’s murder.

Castle is the type of show that once you start watching it, you can’t stop. So once I started watching the third season on DVD (I wish Blu-Ray!), I couldn’t stop. Before I started to watch the third season, I was saying to myself that maybe I’ll just skim around but I couldn’t do it. Nathan Fillion as Castle is just perfect and Fillion makes the character extremely likable. Fillion/Castle is up to date on all the latest geek trends, and other pop cultures things and I love when he incorporates them into the show. For instance, Castle randomly speaks Chinese to an Asian man and Beckett asks him about it, and he responds something along the lines that he learned how to speak Chinese on a show he used to like. (meaning Firefly). It’s the little things.

Season 4 is currently airing which I haven’t seen yet but if you want to get caught up, Season 3 DVD is out now. The extras are decent like the bloopers, the roundtable discussion about Castle and mystery writing, and the other featurettes listed below. Castle is a fun show to watch each week and it’s even more fun to watch on DVD!
