Wow! I’m almost caught up with all the seasons of Scrubs! I actually managed to watch the first half of the 6th season on TV last year. But my DVR list just kept getting larger and larger and it was harder to keep up. Thankfully Disney has released the 6th season right around the start of the final, 7th season. Like with any other Scrubs DVD, I managed to watch the entire DVD set in 3 days.

The start of the 6th season, J.D comes to terms that he’s going to become a Father with Kim. Turk and Carla, Dr. Cox and Jordan are also expecting children. J.D and Kim’s relationship takes a twist once they find out they are going to be parents, Kim takes a job somewhere else. Elliot and Keith get engaged towards the end of the season, and Elliot gets all J.D-like and has second thoughts on it. One storyline that goes a few episodes is a wounded War Vet who stays at the hospital for awhile. Everyone likes him a lot but they later find out he tried to commit suicide since he can’t go back into the Army anymore. So they get all depressing and talk about their feelings and stuff. Also, a beloved member of Sacred Heart hospital passes away and it effects the whole Hospital. The show continues to teeter on drama and comedy sometimes, but there is still plenty of laughs in season six.

I thought the 6th season had a lot of funny moments & episodes, but I didn’t think it was as good as previous seasons. J.D seems to have been taken out of the limelight for a change but I’m not sure I like that. There’s a lot more focus on Dr. Cox, Elliot, Janitor, Turk and Carla. Even Ted gets a lot more screen time this time as well. This season, J.D doesn’t just get a voice over but all the other characters do in some episodes as well. Plus Scrubs mocks other TV shows for having a clip show, yet they fall victim of it as well. Granted I still enjoyed that episode, it’s just a cheap way to avoid writing an episode. Scrubs’ Emmy nominated episode “My Musical” was the talked-about episode this season. While the poo song is funny, I just can’t stand musicals. I find it really gimmicky when it’s done on a TV show as well (ie. The Simpsons).

Scrubs DVDs usually has it’s fair share of bonus material. Some TV shows just have the TV show with no extras but Scrubs continues to please fans with at least SOME stuff. There’s a quick featurette on the musical episode, there’s some deleted scenes, the actress who plays Carla gets interviewed about how she got the job and there’s a few other things as well. I liked watching the alternate lines featurette because it’s funny to see the actors try different lines for one scene.

There’s really not much else to really say that hasn’t already been said in one of my reviews. Scrubs is still one of the funniest shows on TV and it only has one more season to go I believe. This season could have been a little bit better but I still managed to watch the entire DVD in less than 3 days.
