One of the reasons, I went to see this movie was because of the new Theatrical Teaser Trailer for Lord of the Rings or Fellowship of the Ring (the first movie of the trilogy).

Holy Crap! These movies are going to be amazing! I was staring at the big screen with glee and kept saying to my brother, this is going to be fucking amazing. The LOTR trilogy is going to be bigger than Star Wars, that’s how good these movies are going to be.

Now, on to Thirteen Days. This was a good historical drama about the the Cuban Missile Crisis seen through the eyes of Kenny O’Donnell, played by Kevin Costner. Kevin Costner’s “bastan” accent got annoying as soon as he opened his mouth, but then it either got less annoying or he didn’t do the accent as strong.

Bruce Greenwood didn’t really look or talk like JFK, but he still played a decent JFK. But I feel Steven Culp, who played Bobby Kennedy should get at least a nomination for the Oscars because he did a perfect Bobby Kennedy. He looked and definitely talked like him. It makes me think that they should have cast someone for JFK who was less known but talk and looked like JFK. One neat thing for the movie was that they used a lot of actual footage of protesting, clips from news report, and Walter Cronkite news broadcasts. Watching this movie, it’s scary to see how close we came before this planet would have been fucked. That being, from nuclear war.

In high school, I sucked at US History classes, I never really understood what went on during the Cuban Mission Crisis From seeing this movie, now I know, if this movie is really that accurate. Which I have no clue about. The movie was interesting, suspenseful even though I knew the outcome, and entertaining. Definitely see this political drama if you like that sort of movie, or if you need a 2 and half hour history lesson.
