Sorry Folks, No Image Is Here.

Slightly Stoopid will release their new album Meanwhile…Back at the Lab on June 30th through their label Stoopid Records. Meanwhile…Back at the Lab is the next evolution for the San Diego-based group lauded for their multi-instrumental cross-genre blend of rock, reggae, folk and blues with hip-hop, punk, and funk elements.

The title and album cover reference the band’s collective escape from touring and home life at their San Diego warehouse studio (The Lab at Stoopid Studios), where they have been working on numerous creative and collaborative projects. Meanwhile…Back at the Lab is the first release from these sessions and now available for pre-order on iTunes with an instant gratification track from the album, “Life Rolls On,” for immediate download.

Slightly Stoopid is Kyle McDonald (guitar, bass, vocals), Miles Doughty (guitar, bass, vocals), Ryan “Rymo” Moran (drums), Oguer “OG” Ocon (percussion), Daniel “Dela” Delacruz (saxophone), Paul Wolstencroft (keyboards), Andy Geib (trumpet, trombone) with special guest and “unofficial 8th member” Karl Denson (The Rolling Stones/Greyboy Allstars) on saxophone.

The sessions for Meanwhile… Back at the Lab began in late 2012, shortly following the band’s seventh studio release Top of the World. That album, the band’s most successful to date, entered the Billboard 200 at a career high No. 13 and also hit Billboard’s Independent Albums chart at No. 3, Billboard’s Rock Albums and Alternative Albums charts with a final position of No. 4. The forthcoming album was recorded at the band’s studio; as well as at Platinum Sound, NYC; Rivas Studios, L.A.; Mixdown Town LBC, Long Beach, CA; and was self-produced by the band along with The Lab’s in-house maestro James Wisner. At one juncture, the band came straight off a flight from their South American Tour to NYC, where Jerry Wonda (The Fugees, Wyclef Jean) engineered an impromptu late night/early morning session at Platinum Sound, yielding the collaborative “Come Around.” Back home Kyle and Miles also called on their long time friends and Southern California music icons, Michael “Miguel” Happoldt and Marshall “Ras MG” Goodman, to produce standout tracks “Life Rolls On” and “The Prophet.”

Since forming, Slightly Stoopid has toured non-stop, and 2015 is no different. The band will kick off its “Everything Is Awesome” Summer 2015 tour on July 8 and will hit 40+ cities in select outdoor amphitheaters and theaters before ending on September 19. For this run Slightly Stoopid has enlisted Cali cohorts Dirty Heads, The Expendables (select dates) and Stick Figure (select dates) to join them on the trek which features gigs at such premiere venues as Red Rocks Amphitheater in Denver, JBL’s Pier 97 in NYC and The Santa Barbara Bowl. Slightly Stoopid will also have a presence on numerous festivals including Outside Lands, Wakarusa, the LOCKN’ Festival, and KAABOO. Tickets for these shows are on sale now.
