Willie Nile Releasing A New Album in Early 2016
Music News | Oct 15th, 2015
Willie Nile has announced today that he is recording a new album with his band and will be releasing it in early 2016. He’s doing another PledgeMusic campaign, and the fact that the campaign is already doing great means people crave more new music from Willie. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Light of Day, a charity that raises money for Parkinson’s Research and an organization that Willie has been part of for many years. American Ride and If I Was A River were excellent so I’m looking forward to hearing what else he has up his sleeve.
Willie posted this, along with a video with some bits from the new album on the PledgeMusic page:
Hello Everyone,
I’ve been in the studio working on a new album with the band. I’ve got a batch of new songs and we’re having a great time putting it together. It’s a full on rock album complete with fire and brimstone, love, passion, humor, revolution, rebellion, heart, more love and passion, politics, poetry, piss and vinegar, the occasional offensive diatribe, did I say humor, along with some guitars, drums, bass, pianos, glockenspiels, huge choirs, lowlifes, tightrope walkers, gypsy cabs, and more heart, plus some new twists and turns along the way. Needless to say, I’m very excited about it.
It always feels like I’m still learning on this journey, I hope so anyway, and I can hear that in these songs and in the performances. The band and I have played so many shows together these past two years and we’ve gotten tighter and stronger and better in a lot of ways and I think that also comes through. There are 12 songs on the album and we hope to release it in early 2016.
We’re doing a PledgeMusic campaign to raise funds for recording costs, manufacturing costs, promotion, and publicity to help get the word out, etc. With your generosity for American Ride two years ago we were able to do more things to support the album and let more people know about it than we would have ever been able to do without it and it ended up being voted Best Rock Album Of the Year at the Independent Music Awards! Heartfelt thanks to all who contributed. We couldn’t have done it without you!
I really think we’ve got something special here with this one and I invite you to come join the team. We’d love to have you on board with us. There are all kinds of incentives and rewards available. There will be also be exclusive updates from time to time for those making pledges, including clips of the band in the studio recording the album, etc.
We’ll have video updates along the way, etc. Come and check out the rewards offered and let your friends, family, business associates, enemies, probation officers, bookies and revolutionary comrades all know about it. Please spread the word. Whatever you can do to help will be much appreciated and enable us to do what we need to do to finish the album and promote and publicize it properly.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Light of Day, a charity that raises money for Parkinson’s Research and an organization that I’ve happily been a part of for many years.
It’s truly been an honor for me to be able to write and record my songs and play concerts for you. I’m humbled and deeply grateful that you’ve taken the time to listen to the music and come out to the shows and have been so kind and enthusiastic and generous in your support. It means more than you know.
Love and thanks to all, Willie
