Dub: reggae’s lullaby. Nothing against the Steady Ups, who I think are a fine, fine band, but dub isn’t the most interesting of genres, and either you set yourself apart somehow or you make sure your audience have their pillows ready.

I suppose if you know the Steady Ups’ music very well, you can dig the way they turn their song rhythms into hypnotic trances, and it probably doesn’t hurt to be high on Oxycontin either. But to be honest, Dr. Ring Ding is one of my fave ska/reggae artists, and I can’t listen to his dub album either.

Dub is like anal sex – either you get used to it, or it’s a big pain in the ass. That said, I did like “Shake Down Dub” and “Dub The Nation.” I feel this way about all dub albums, but they should’ve just taken the best couple of tracks and thrown em at the end of a regular album.
