This double-disc collection includes most of this influential NJ punk band’s recorded work, including early demos, 7″s, their two full-lengths, and previously unreleased tracks.
Sticks & Stones were a smart, thoughtful, and innovative punk band from the late 80s-early 90s; I always considered them like the Jane’s Addiction of punk, though upon hearing them now, I’m not sure exactly where I came up with that.
Hearing them now makes me realize just how great an influence they had on the Bouncing Souls, from the wistful, passionate vocals to the bouncy basslines to certain guitar nuances. But in all honesty, two full discs might be too much. Outside of their great album “Theme Song For Nothing”, a couple of early tracks and a perfect version of Synchronicity II that really showcases Pete Ventantonio’s great range, truly great tracks are rare and far between, with too much filler. That’s just a casual listener’s opinion – big fans of the band will want this.
