The latest Strung Out album off of Fat Wreck Chord is a collection of outtakes, demos, B-sides and other rarities. Some of the songs are unreleased as well. There is another compilation of Strung Out songs like this on the album The Skinny Years: Before We Got Fat. I’m sure most fans of the band already have these songs floating around, but it’s nice to have everything in one spot. The album contains 25 tracks in all and it’s a great compilation!

Every time I listen to Strung Out, I kick myself for not getting into them as much as other Fat bands. Their earlier work from this compilation is awesome! I particularly like the cover of the Descendents “I’m Not A Loser,” which is track 3. Another cover that I love from the band is Ozzy’s “Bark at the Moon.” Can’t go wrong with covering Ozzy Osbourne. Most of these songs are from various compilations; I really like the older sounding songs from Strung Out. Perhaps I need to start from the beginning and listen to SO’s albums from the early 1990s? Demos or not, this is one hell of a CD!

Bottom Line: Fantastic compilation of Strung Out rarities and unreleased songs
Notable Tracks: I’m Not a Loser, Bark at the Moon, More than Words, Just Like Me
