I was a bit skeptical about seeing this one, thinking it was going to be another stupid teen horror flick that was completely un-satisfying and stupid. But, it turned out to be a lot better than I thought. Here’s a quick summary of the movie since it was not reviewed yet:

5 friends on a camping trip get their car hit by a lost medical student (Harrington) on his way to an interview in West Virginia. The 6 of them now stranded decided to take a walk down the road looking for help, and of course, trouble starts. Now these “monsters” aren’t your everyday hillbillies. These are cannibalistic mountain men, severely deformed from years of inbreeding. Gross huh? The makeup was done fantastically on these guys by Stan Winston (famous for the Terminator films), he really did an amazing job making the cannibals look disgusting and oddly deformed, I loved it. So, that’s the plot. Just your average horror movie, very similar to the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The killing scenes were graphic, the acting was not fantastic but it was better then most ‘horror’ movies (House of the Dead). It was overall, a fun flick to watch, check it out if you’re a fan of horror movies that have more to them then just sex and gore.

The commentary on the DVD was pretty funny, and I don’t normally like listening to them, but this one I enjoyed. The DVD could have done without the deleted scenes, they weren’t too interesting. I disliked the hundred takes of one death, it was too long and incredibly stupid. I checked out the featurettes which were really cool. I love seeing how they do makeup for movie, it kind of makes you feel bad for the actor who has to sit for 6 hours getting done up. I say pick this one up. It’s got gore, it’s entertaining, and just for the boys: Eliza Dushku is in it. I liked it so listen to me.
