Great Big Sea resume North American Tour this August

Platinum-selling Canadian folk, rockers Great Big Sea will resume their North American tour on Tuesday, August 19 in Hyannis, Mass. Alan Doyle will be back with the band as he returns from the UK after filming scenes in the new Ridley Scott/Russell Crowe ‘Robin Hood’ film. In 2008, the band released Fortune’s Favour a collection of songs “tethered to the band’s musical past” with some traditional instrumentation (pennywhistle, banjo) but with “a great big (no pun) rock ‘n’ roll feel.” (- Pittsburgh Tribune Review)
Born and raised in ‘the far east of the western world,’ GBS have toured internationally, while wearing their hometown of St. John’s, Newfoundland, on their sleeve. A favorite among fans and media, the band has steadily built a devoted following over the course of their 15-year career and once again plan an extensive tour in support of the new cd.
Produced by Hawksley Workman, “Fortune’s Favour,” the band’s tenth release, sees them boldly embracing new sounds and new ideas, fearlessly pushing boundaries of their own art and music. In their lifelong quest to blend the traditional music of Newfoundland with their own pop explorations, “Fortune’s Favour,” reaches a new benchmark.
Great Big Sea will embark on their North American tour on August 19 in Hyannis, Massachusetts and continue through November.
