Paper + Plastick Records is going to release in America the split 7″ featuring two mainland European bands, Jaya The Cat and The Forum Walters. The split is now available for purchase in the Paper + Plastick webstore. Wait, Jaya The Cat is European now? I know Boston is a melting pot of cultures but geez.

Jaya The Cat play an original blend of reggae, ska and punk rock dosed with dub and dance hall beats, all blending into a musical soundtrack to support tales filled with drunken sunrises, narrow escapes, dysfunctional love affairs, political disillusionment and optimistically raised glasses, through seedy bars, carnival parades and late-night dives. Originating from Boston and currently based in Amsterdam, Jaya The Cat not only continue to grow sonically but have also been hard at work building their reputation as one of the premiere bands on the European live circuit, playing hundreds of concerts to an ever-expanding audience and turning every gig into an unforgettable on-stage party with the audience singing, dancing and drinking right along with the band. Although they prefer to play their own headlining shows, Jaya The Cat have shared stages with Sublime, the Beatsteaks and Less Than Jake – and have also had the pleasure of appearing at numerous festivals such as the Vans Warped Tour, Lowlands, Rebellion, Pukkelpop, Ruhrpott Rodeo and the Spirit Festival.

The Forum Walters have lived in the routine of the touring heartbeat since they began their journey over six years ago. Regardless of whether they’re in Russia, Greece, the United States or in their homelands of Upper Austria, the band’s passion and never-ending DIY ethics have helped transform them into a well-known, hard-working band. Countless tours through Europe, two self-planned U.S. stints and shows with bands like the Bouncing Souls, Dropkick Murphys, Mad Sin and Street Dogs created not only a sworn-in fanbase but also the reputation of being Austria’s most subversive punk-rock band. “Being able to do whatever we want musically is punk for us. Bands such as State Radio, Sublime, the Clash and the Beatsteaks are on heavy rotation on our turntables, which you can probably tell when you listen to our songs,” states singer Philipp Eisl.
