(Epitaph) Iconic Southern California punk rock outfit Pennywise will join forces with hardcore pioneers The Circle Jerks for a North American Tour this October. Fresh off of recent, acclaimed treks through Australia and Europe in support of its latest Epitaph album, 2005’s incendiary The Fuse, the beloved Hermosa Beach foursome will launch the month-long must-see tour in Portland, Oregon on October 1st.

“Loud, hard and fast it’s what we’re comfortable playing and we know that’s what people expect from us,” vocalist Jim Lindberg says matter-of-factly about the band’s modus operandi in making The Fuse. Drawing from its eight album discography and eighteen-year tenure, that same mindset steers the group’s scorching live show.

Called “one of the key bands of the punk-revival of the 90s” by All Music Guide and “an institution to be treasured” by Drowned In Sound, Pennywise sounds apropos as ever on The Fuse. “When we’re writing it’s all about trying to keep the energy and passion for what we’re doing alive and come up with material that keeps the band relevant,” Lindberg says. From society’s cell phone-mad existence (“Disconnect”) to the tyrannical, power-drunk leaders in the world (“Premeditated Murder”) and the revulsion conveyed via “Fox TV,” the distinctive quartet roars on its latest.

The tour winds up in the Mid-Atlantic Region with a finale at New York’s Irving Plaza on the 22nd. In addition to the Circle Jerks, Pennywise which also features outspoken guitarist Fletcher Dragge, bassist Randy Bradbury and drummer Byron McMackin will be joined by Orange County hardcore outfit Ignite and The Brown Brigade, a reggae influenced heavy metal band.
