The Levellers are set to play in NYC this weekend for the first time in over 13 years! To say I’ve been waiting for this moment for awhile is an understatement. The British folk punk band will be playing Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn on Sunday September 25th and on Monday September 26th will be playing NYC at Bowery Ballroom. Singer-songwriter Casey Neill will be opening both shows as well.
The Levellers are celebrating their classic album Levelling The Land‘s 25th Anniversary with this tour and will be playing the album in its entirety. Not sure if its from start to finish and then other songs or not. Guess I’ll find out this weekend, where we should have reviews for both nights in NYC and photos as well.
For those that don’t know about the Levellers, the Brighton, England band has been around since 1988 and have had radio hits like “One Way” and “What A Beautiful Day.” They have 10 studio albums, a bunch of live albums but the stuff you should check out for this tour is the album Levelling the Land. I always tell friends and people curious about the band is they sound like The Clash with a fiddle. If you’re a fan of The Pogues, The Waterboys, Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly and Frank Turner, you won’t be disappointed! They put on such an amazing & fun live show!
The band is doing a contest for their Levelling The Land 25th Anniversary Tour for USA, Australia and UK. Whatever Instagram photo gets the most likes, etc. will win a bunch of Levellers merch!
Tickets are still available so be sure to get them before the show sell out!
