This may be the best Cavedoll release. It’s hard to keep track of them all (I think this is the tenth of the year), but this album is simple, bright, and catchy, and all the better for it.
Taking an approach mixing garage rock with power-pop, the eclectic indie band serves up appealing, smart pop tunes, the best of which sound like an indie-pop (and occasionally Casio-pop) version of The Strokes.
The album does lose steam toward the end, slowing down and becoming more trademark indie-ish, but a loyal cover of “Bang A Gong (Get It On)” ends a solid album on an upbeat, silly note.
