Hot Water Music-style stuff from members of Pinhead Circus, Ghost Buffalo, and others.
They’re solidly in the shaded area of a Venn Diagram between post-punk and melodic indie, and they do it well – talented musicianship, avoidance of emo, time/melody changes within songs. It’s just not very catchy or affecting. It’s missing soul, oomph, a raison d’tre. They’re technically competent within their genre, but not particularly necessary.
