Wow, these guys ARE ugly! They all look like Kenny G in various stages of hair loss. But they’ve been around for 20 years, so I’ll cut them some slack.

Although they’ve had a long but undistinguished career, I know nothing about them and this is my first time listening to them. That’s okay though – I’m sure they know nothing about me and have never listened to me. Bastards!

They’re pretty good though – vocals reminiscent of Tom Verlaine and Violent Femmes with a midtempo, shuffling artrock sound. This retrospective collects their recorded work – 19 tracks, most of which are very good. There are a lot of retrospectives of old, unlistened, long-lost punk and new wave bands, but few that are any worth a damn, and I’m happy to report that these guys are worth blowing the dust off of.
