Red City Radio to release Titles on October 15
Music News | Aug 8th, 2013
Red City Radio announced that they will release their next album called Titles via Paper + Plastick Records. Titles is the band’s second full-length album and the follow-up to Red City Radio’s widely acclaimed debut, The Dangers of Standing Still. It will be released on October 15, 2012. They will be hitting the road with Big D and the Kids Table in October.
Additionally, the group has released a teaser video with a song clip from a song called “The Silence Between,” which is the closing song on Titles. Red City Radio will release a full brand-new song called “Show Me On the Doll Where the Music Touched You” next week, on August 13.
Red City Radio has also announced a fall tour in support of Big D and The Kids Table, from mid-October into November. The tour will wind through THE FEST in Gainesville, Fla., where Red City Radio will perform once again to a raucous crowd. The teaser video that the band released contains some video of their performance from Fest 11 last year, courtesy of HearNebraska.org. All tour dates can be seen below the album art and tracklisting!
The Dangers of Standing still made a slew of Top 10 lists at the end of 2011, including a top-five finish in Punknews.org’s reader poll. The album was praised by critics, who wrote that “[this] is the kind of debut that isn’t likely to leave your stereo in the foreseeable future” (AbsolutePunk.net, 86%) and that Red City Radio plays “intelligent, emotive punk rock at its finest” (Alternative Press, 4/5 Stars).
At the end of the day, Red City Radio brings a blunt, passionate brand of punk-rock to the table. But while The Dangers of Standing Still was sometimes dubbed as a straightforward punk album – albeit it a really good straightforward punk album – the band has assured fans that Titles will be different, while still retaining Red City Radio’s signature sound. A statement from the band can be read below:
We know we’re overdue for a new full-length. We realized that when we were on tour with The Ataris last year. So after we toured with Broadway Calls at the beginning of this year, we settled down and started writing a new record. We knew we had to do something better this time; something different in terms of song craft and delivery, and that added a lot more pressure. It was also our first time recording without the help of Stephen Egerton. But with the very talented Kendall Stephens producing, and our bassist Jojo assisting, we decided to take some risks. The end result is a punk-rock record that’s reliant on the “rock” side of things. There’s lots of vocal melodies, like you’re used to hearing with Red City Radio songs. But this album is a lot more personal, and there are a lot of things on here that our fans haven’t heard from us before. We think it’s our bets work, and we hope you like it.
