Lubec – “Nothing Is Enough EP”

This EP was hard to review, as the songs are very good but suffocating under the weight of guitar fuzz, cymbal-heavy drumming, and reverby vocals. Unless you have good speakers or play this at a certain volume, the album can be echoey to the point of incoherent.

Their indulgences are unfortunate, because the songs are otherwise well written and melodic. I was pleased to hear a new wavey, gothy undercurrent and poppy hooks. You just have to dig deep through the layers of crappily bombastic noise and production to get to them.

Bottom Line: They need a distortion pedal intervention.
