After releasing over a dozen solo albums (in the past 4 years), Vincent Brue has reunited with the rest of the lifeguards. Reunion suits them – their new album overflows with raucous, creative energy.
SJSLCB have always managed to be tightly songful and catchy, while exuding a full, live feeling that sounds like they impromptu came together for a jamboree at a bonfire party on the beach. This album is no different – it explodes with catchy tunes, driving guitar and percussion, bubbly banjo, and soaring horn lines.
I frequently wonder if I’m the only who knows about Brue’s bands. His creative output is consistently voluminous and high quality, yet I hardly see any reviews online. Their myspace page and blog have practically no followers or comments. How is this possible?
Bottom Line: Another solid, feel-good indie rock album.
Notable Tracks: Roar, Iron Constitution, Sea of Death, My Favorite Armor, The Red Eye
