Hipsterish garage rock that goes for Strokes-like disaffection with melodramatic elements, like piano, strings, and electro/dancepunk. As you can tell from their name, they’re trying way too hard to be simultaneously lowbrow and highbrow. It doesn’t work.

The best tune “No Strata” is a quick guilty pleasure. Dance punk beats, electro/percussion elements, hand claps, yearning/yarling vocals… it’s not bad, but like the rest of the album, it’s too cooler-than-thou and derivative.

Bottom Line: I might like this more if I could afford the Brooklyn heroin-chic look.
Notable Tracks: Despite the Mix Up, No Strata
